LAS VEGAS. What to say about Las Vegas hmm…
It was such a pretty, strange, odd, obnoxious, fun, crazy, and bright place. I’m probably missing some adjectives in there but that’s what comes to mind when I think about Las Vegas and our trip we took there. This is also the first place I ever saw a palm tree! We went to celebrate our anniversary and our birthdays (my golden birthday-get it gold, lights, ha). We are glad we went and will never forget this awesomely fun trip but I can also reason that it may not be for everyone. However, I do recommend those of you who are at least a little bit curious to definitely go here at least once in their lifetime. It’s just so…different, like nowhere I’ve ever visited before. Take a look at what activities we chose to do!
Our Las Vegas Itinerary
We saw a show, naturally
Ok so, I didn’t know it until the night we arrived, but Nate filled me in that he purchased Blue Man Group Tickets eek!!! I was so surprised and ecstatic as I had heard good things about this show. I had been wanting to go see them in Chicago since we’re just down the road basically, but we ended up seeing them while we were here. You MUST go see them! Like Las Vegas, their show is difficult to describe and hard to place in a category. Vegas has their concerts, magic and burlesque shows, etc., but I highly doubt this is like no other show you will experience. To top it off, when we entered the doors and got checked in, we were asked to be part of the show! I was hesitant but Nate was totally game, so we agreed. We had to sit in the back at first, and they had us be ‘late guests’ and made us walk in with a spotlight and the camera aimed at us and all-I dunno you had to be there it was cool okay!
I took a pic with the Las Vegas showgirls
There are several women walking around the strip that will ask you to take a pic with them in exchange for a tip. They are donned with the showgirl get up of the feather hat and a very revealing corset. If this isn’t your thing, keep walking, but for me it WAS pretty cool and when would I have an opportunity to do something like this again?!
We took a day trip to a national park
There’s actually, like, a lot of national parks fairly close to Vegas, but we chose Zion National Park which I highly recommend visiting- it was absolutely breathtaking and fun! We rented a car and headed outta town early for the day and got to the park in about 2 hours or so. Because we only had a day to hit the trails, we decided to hike the ever popular Angel’s Landing. It did not disappoint! It was difficult, but had jaw dropping and breathtaking views every step of the way.
We were good tourists and cruised the strip and visited the hotels
We were staying at the Luxor, but we also hit up the Cosmopolitan, the Bellagio, Caesar’s Palace, and the Venetian. All of them were so glamorous and it was nice to take part in a totally free activity.
We saw the fountain show at the Bellagio
You’ll want to watch this at night. It’s busy so get you a good spot at the fences and watch the fountains rise and fall to a melody the hotel will play. It’s really cool and I’m glad we got to see it!
We weren’t about to leave without a pic in front of the Las Vegas sign
We stood in line. We took a selfie.
We consumed an alcoholic beverage while strolling the strip
Take that, America! As most of you know, open bottle in public is illegal in most of the U.S. so we had to partake. Just because we could. It was freeing. It felt good.
WHERE WE ATE WHILE IN LAS VEGAS
We stayed at the Luxor and heard that they have a kickass buffet, so we stepped right down to their restaurant and it was phenomenal! They had so many different options it was a bit overwhelming, everything from Mexican to Japanese to Italian. So of course, I was a pig and tried it all. It was a silent dinner as we were too busy cramming all the delicious food into our bellies.
This place will rock your world! The food is delicious but the ambiance is so much more here! For dinner, you’ll sit in their main dining area where you’ll be served by servers wearing evening gowns, even though their menu is comprised of more casual American fare like salads, burgers, & steaks. It’s a very aesthetically pleasing dining room, but it gets better when you move to their bar area after dinner. There’s a fire pit in the middle of the room and the lighting is of dim, red tones and sort of jungle-themedish? Don’t ask me to go into detail-just go there!!
Oh yes, the much awaited infamous fast food joint primarily found in the south western states. Their food is amazing, fast, and cheap. I’d been wanting to try this place for years!
Yup, that’s the name. It’s found inside the Cosmopolitan and it has a small menu serving yummy breakfast sandwiches…and mimosas and bloody marys y’all.
